Delta Taskforce on Environment Collaborates with Federal Ministries to Combat Unethical Sand Mining Practices”
Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP, the Executive Chairman Taskforce on Environment held a brainstorming meeting with Federal Ministry of Environment, and Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel.
The meeting took place at the office of the Executive Chairman Taskforce on Environment Asaba, on Wednesday 7th February, 2024. Discussion at the meeting was centered on unethical activities of sand Miners and their negative effects on the environment, with the view of proffering mitigation. The chairman in his address, expressed his displeasure over the unethical activities of sand miners which has led to environmental degradation thereby called on the two ministries to collaborate with the State Taskforce on Environment on routine inspection to ensure total compliance with environmental and mining act of the federation. Responding, Dr Mrs Nwokolo C (controller fed.min.of env. Delta State) and Engr. Golden ( FMO of mines and steel) expressed their readiness to work with the Taskforce.
